My name is Richard and I'm from Crown Point. I've always wanted to join the 501st and I'm finally of age! I especially want to join now after seeing the 501st at C2E2. I want to join but I don't have a costume yet and don't know where to start looking. Any tips to get me started? I know so far I want a TK costume.

Welcome Richard!
The first step would be to register on a couple of the 501st detachments the MEPD (www.mepd.net) and the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (www.whitearmor.net). There is a lot of info on both sites about TK&TD armor. Do some research to determine if TK is the way you want to go, get to know the members, and eventually you will find what you seek.
oh, and avoid Ebay.

Hi Richard! As far as where to start, getting to know some troopers through the board is always a good thing. Pay attention to the Events section and try to make it to a couple events to meet folks in person and see how things work.
As far as costumes go, doing a "soft" costume is easier (99% of the time) and a good starting point for your first venture into costuming. Clones and "hard" armor are more challenging. Ultimately, it is what you like and want to do, all the while keeping in mind that it will be challenging at times. Don't let that discourage you! Because at the end of the day, all of the hard work pays off!
Hello and welcome. You have taken your first step into a larger world. You will find this is a great group to be part of. Welcome.
