View Full Version : Getting closer...
I thought I would take the time to pop in and say hi. My name is RC and am nearing completion on an AT-AT pilot that has been 5 years in the making. While I never managed to join the 501st, I have had several costumes over the years and am familiar with prop making.
I tend to sell some while buying others, making molds, then losing time to finish. In late 2007 I decided to put the nose to the grindstone and finish my AT-AT which I have loved since my youth.
Then of course we recently started seeing all the lovely Clone Wars pics and clips. This inspired me to investigate the clone scene... all too addicting. :) I managed to procure some armor which needs TLC and have located a few other parts. My current intent is Captain Rex, although a plain white phase I has interested me. This will be following the AT-AT pilot however.
Currently I am waiting for two pieces to be completed from some kind individuals and my AT-AT pilot will be ready for the submission process.
What drives me to actually join the 501st however, isn't the costumes, but rather the many organizations you help. My own family has been helped by many of them, and this seems the perfect way in which to offer my thanks and assistance.
I hope that my endeavors will find completion soon and I find a place amongst your numbers.
Sincerely,
-RC

That is what drives many of us, that being able to pass Star Wars on to a new generation! I look forward to trooping with you.:)

Hey, I know you! Good to see ya over here RC. :1icon10: :)
Hey! Yes you do know me :) I figured that actually posting would be more pressure on me to get it done sooner than later. I did get a set of clone armor as well. Needs some TLC but not too bad. I am not too worried about the clone though until the last couple pieces come in on my AT-AT. I am expecting them very soon though.

Don't worry in the mean time you'll see a thread every now and then from me saying "Is RC done yet???" Just to add a little more pressure for ya. :)
I am sure that will help :) You guys ever run armor days?

Sure do. Just keep your eyes open either in the Bloodfin Events section or some times in General Discussion. No real schedule to it just when ever we need one.
1: Would I be able to attend one, since I am not 501st... yet
2: I saw they mentioned same bat place... but my GPS doesn't get Gotham :) I did see the one previous held in Ft. Wayne... thats a bit of a trek for me.
I am not sure if I would be able to make as I have obligations that evening to boot.

Not all are held in Ft. Wayne. Some are held in Indy some even in Bloomington. So there are a couple in various areas. Yes anyone that is in need of help with their armor are welcome to come. I have yet to see anyone to be told they are unwelcome but most armor days are at members homes and it should be up to their discretion.
I will have to keep an eye out then.

As to the armor days I try to post them on the calendar as well as the threads.
I will look to the calendar as well then. I don't have any pics on Hand, but I will take some this weekend and post them. Unfortunately my coveralls are still at the seamstress and the new armor isn't in yet (I have a few jobs ahead of me) but I will post my own bucks, which I eventually intend to replace even the armor I have on the way. Actually though, I will be using my own shoulder bells, so they will be accurate.
here is my coveralls. The helmet is an RA, and was starting to do some long needed repairs, when I decided to buy LAWs armor as I already had hs chestbox. I had to take these pics anyhow for some final alterations. I will post more as soon as possible. My gloves are custom made by me :) and the boots are mickey boots, with a sheath over the shaft. I have the webbing, but think I am going to try and find a lighter grey as the silver grey straps is a bit dark. I might try to see if I can dye the white straps I have.

Like I said, this was taken for alterations, so I pieced two photos together.

Looks like it's coming along.
I am also working on a Clone (phase one and phase II and AT-TE... even though its not 501st). Some of the pieces are weathered and colored. I however, will be doing a plain white with very mild weathering. Cole was wanting to take a gander... so here are the pieces I have so far. However, the bucket (which is an OSCS) is a little too small for my melon, so I am going to get an MR and repaint it. I have some other pieces, but things I am ditching in favor of better pieces. The chest piece is being modified extensively to be more accurate and I will be ditching the ab/kidney for a one piece. It needs a bit of work, but am confident it will come out well. I am going to try and work with the thighs, but if I can, will try and get some better ones. Of course, I will still need to get the undersuit, shoes, belt and other odds and ends... all in due time.
We have been organizing and haven't got back to the boxes with the other AT-AT pieces. Hopefully this weekend will prove fruitful and I will get shots of those up. Since I happened to have these handy I threw them up.
**UPDATE**
Just sold the OSCS, but I did get an MR (along with SGB's soon to be released AT-TE attachment) and Java's Phase I! Very excited about that. Still waiting on the fellow helping me out with the AT-AT pilot armor to get more ABS in, but he tends to be very busy. So I am just thankful he is there at all.
