Bloodfin Garrison

Bloodfin Garrison is named after Darth Maul’s Sith speeder, the “Bloodfin,” which has been described as being “adapted to deliver the swiftest speeds possible.” This name was chosen due to the rich racing history associated with the State of Indiana.

The FC-20 speeder bike was a small, one-being speeder produced by Razalon prior to the Battle of Naboo. Darth Maul owned a custom  FC-20, dubbed the Sith speeder, though actually named Bloodfin.

The Razalon FC-20 speeder bike consisted of a semi-circular body powered by a repulsorlift and piloted with a simple steering handle. The strange, curved body gave the FC-20 a low center of gravity, affording its rider a dramatically improved cornering ability. The FC-20 was most useful for those who did not wish to be seen, since the compact design presented a small target profile. The FC-20 was not armed, though for an assassin like Darth Maul, who wielded a deadly double-bladed lightsaber, this hardly mattered.

Mos Espa Base

Mos Espa Base was the 33rd base of the Rebel Legion, created on July 30, 2009. The base was named after the Tatooine city of Mos Espa, known from Episode I as the home of Anakin Skywalker and the Boonta Eve Classic pod race. Anakin’s victory in that race earned him his freedom from Watto and marked the beginning of his journey as a Jedi.

With Indiana’s long history of racing and the Episode I theme of its sister group, Bloodfin Garrison, Mos Espa was the perfect choice. The base logo shows two pod racers, one red and one orange, the primary colors of the 501st and Rebel Legion, as they race their way across the desert wasteland of Tatooine.
